Introduction to Knitting with Colour

Knitting with colour

Class Description

This series of three classes is designed for knitters who wish to explore working with colour.  We’ll use a variety of knitting techniques to allow you to attempt a wide range of projects upon completion of the classes, including using charts, creating colour work patterns using slipped stitches, stranded colour work (Fair Isle) and Intarsia (picture knitting).

During our time together, we will knit the panels required to create a beautiful, flap-close bag suitable for holding all your knitting accessories.  Each panel will form from a different method of colour-work and new techniques will be introduced as your confidence grows.

Materials Required

You will need a pair of 4mm needles (either straight or circular) for working back and forth and three colours of DK (double knitting) yarn. Only a small amount of yarn is needed – especially in the contrasting colours – so this is the perfect opportunity for using up part balls of yarn.

Skills Required

Casting on and off; knit, purl, increasing stitches (desirable, but not essential), familiarity reading patterns.

Class Dates:

Saturday 7th, 14th and 21st March: 0930 – 11:30. £85 for the course, includes a barista coffee or tea from our cafe each week.
